The October Pack meeting is a carnival put on by the Bear den (with a little help from their friends). It is always so much fun and you won't want to miss it. Every scout wearing a class A uniform will be eligible for a great raffle at the end, and we'll have games, candy, snacks and other prizes.

We also need everyone to pay their dues. The good news is that only new scouts need to fill out applications - but we have to submit our paperwork to the council by the end of the month and get everyone re-registered. So if you haven't paid dues or for the campout please try to wrap it up up at this meeting.

Speaking of camping, we're only 3 1/2 weeks from our fall camp out! We have just a couple spots left, so if anyone is interested make sure to email your den leader ASAP.

Final note: unlike previous years the AOE MPR is available, so the pack meeting is at the regular time and place.

I hope everyone is excited for the campout this weekend! Good news, the weather forecast is positive - clear skies for stargazing, the winds are calming down and the freeze warnings have expired. That said, it will still be chilly Friday and Saturday night. The temperatures could dip into the 30s, so come prepared.

And don't forget - make sure you bring your medical forms A and B! And finally, remember that you are on your own for dinner tonight.

See you in the desert!

On the map the group campsite is listed as the “Caravan Area.” We also have some additional overflow camp sites as well, and will let everyone know where to set up when you arrive.

Also note that I've been told when they say “no cell phone reception” they mean it - expect to be off-grid for the weekend.

3 pm Friday November 1 to late morning Sunday November 3. Cubmaster Matt is planning to arrive early but feel to arrive any time Friday. If you are going to be driving up Saturday morning please let us know so we can plan accordingly.

Families will need to supply a tent, sleeping bags & ground pads (or equivalent), and personal gear. A detailed gear list (which is an exhaustive list of gear, not a minimum list) is available at:

EVERYONE attending must bring their A and B medical forms (this includes adults). If you are filling them out for the first time you can download them here:

I recommend making a copy - this will not be the first time you will need the form. When you arrive at camp Cubmaster Matt will be collecting them.

You are on your own for dinner on Friday night. We will be cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, as well as a continental breakfast on Sunday morning. Cooking will be by dens, and we’ll coordinate parent help as needed (campouts definitely require volunteers!). The menu is breakfast burritos in the morning, sandwiches for lunch, and carnitas tacos for dinner.

On Saturday morning we’ll be doing a pack hike and then rotating through several stations (knots and a craft). Saturday afternoon will be open time for dens to work on requirements, followed by a presentation by the park ranger. Note that the park does offer swimming in the hot spring fed pools, but that will need to be done with your family during the open time on Saturday afternoon due to BSA regulations. Saturday night after dinner we’ll have a camp fire with skits, followed by star gazing and s’mores.
